Be sure you calibrate the measuring tapes. Be sure each measuring tape measures exactly the same as the other measuring tape.

...How do I calibrate 2 measuring tapes?
Take a board or a piece of paper and draw a 6" line. Be sure you line is exactly 6" long. Now, simply take each of the other tape measures you are using on the job and measure your line. If any of the tape measures do not measure 6", be sure you adjust-bend the metal piece extending perpendicular to the beginning of the tape measure accordingly.
